Happy 1st Birthday Liam

Everyone keeps saying how fast it goes. I still can't believe that my tiny baby is now a toddler. Since it is Liam's birthday, Kevin took today off of work. We started the morning with presents and breakfast. Liam got a wooden activity set that he loves. I didn't want to over do it on presents since we are having a birthday party on Saturday. I did kinda go crazy at Old Navy yesterday. He needs shirts and shorts.

After presents we headed off to the Children's Museum. First, we stopped for bagels and coffee. I decided to give Liam a sugar cookie since it is his birthday. Once 1/2 of the cookie was devoured we went into the museum. We decided to go to playscape first. Liam loves running around and playing with other kids. We just let him take off. Kevin or I follow him around making sure he doesn't run into anyone. We let Liam play in the water but he kept splashing all around making everything and everyone around him wet. We decided to let him play in the toddler area for awhile. I think he would have been happy in there all day. After playing with sand, water, and blocks he finally became bored. We then headed for the old Broad Ripple Park Carousel.

So far it has been a great day. Liam won't take a nap. I'm sure he is wired because I gave him the other half of his cookie. I had this same problem last week after the Children's Museum. I think he gets so stimulated that he can't relax. He just keeps walking around in circles. He will eventually crash. I've been having computer problems and haven't been able to load my photos of the day.

Children's Museum

Today we went to the Children's Museum. They have a Bob the Builder exhibit which was pretty cool. We met Melissa and her babies after I convinced her that 2 of us can handle 3 kids. Liam was running everywhere. I was super bummed that the Playscape was closed for annual repairs. That was the main reason for us going. I'm glad the Bob the Builder didn't disappoint us. It had a lot of the same aspects as Playscape.

Liam is still pumped from the museum and doesn't want to nap. I thought he would be exhausted from running all over. I went into check him and I think he is trying to chew through his crib. His mouth had white paint flakes all around it. I went online to make sure that his crib was made with non toxic paint. I don't know who would make a crib that wasn't non toxic. I'm sure that Liam's crib was manufactured in China like everything else. Now I'm worried again. Great. I'm starting to think they painted it with sugar. He is so hyper or maybe that is a sign of lead poisoning.

Wednesday

So today Liam woke up super cranky. I think he is going through a growth spurt and getting two top teeth. I decided that before we had company that he should take an early nap. While he was napping I was searching the Internet for robot decorations for his birthday. I decided that I should have done an easier theme. I can't find anything cool. I've decided to create my own decorations, I just hope they turn out. Saturday, I plan on taking a road trip to the Carmel Party Tree in hopes of finding cool plates and cups.

Stacy and Jesse came over to visit after they had lunch at Siam Square. Stacy needed to get a Liam fix. I think it's been a few weeks since she last saw him. Amber Lynch came by also to hang and do some laundry. I love having company during the day. I think Liam is getting a little shy with people he doesn't know. When Jesse came in he didn't want anything to do with him. He kept hiding in between my legs. It didn't take long from him to warm up to him though. Soon he was sitting on his lap and wanting to play.

We are starting to get cabin fever. This snow is crazy. I talked to Lauren today in D.C. and she was telling me that the city is at a stand still. I hope that it clears up before next weekend so they can fly out. Tomorrow I hope to get out of this house. I was going to take Liam to the Children's Museum, but I might wait until Friday to go with Amber and the girls. I need to hit up the craft store for supplies.

Yesterday we didn't leave the house which was perfect because it sucked outside. I put Liam in the backyard to play in the snow but he wasn't into it. So much for making a snow angel or a snow man. I don't blame him. The snow has drifted so high in the backyard that it is almost as tall as him.

Super Bummer

So Sunday was the Super Bowl and we were totally excited. I needed to run to target before the big game to get Liam more baby food. I keep wondering when he'll want to eat regular food. I keep trying to give him toast and bananas but he isn't into it. I hate feeding him that nasty mushy food. He still only has 4 teeth so it isn't easy for him to chew. Anyway back to the Super Bowl. Mike, Amber, Ava and June came over to watch the big game. We decided to make chicken wings and brats, which were delicious but not part of my diet. After eating we all found our seats in front of the T.V. Liam loves Ava and Junie and they are a major help when it comes to watching him. It is funny to watch Liam walk around with Ava right behind him making sure he doesn't get into anything.

Well the Colts didn't win the Super Bowl but the game was fun to watch, well at least the first half. Ava and Junie were super tired and at half time they cuddled up in my bed and watched The Sound Of Music. I think Ava was asleep in 10 minutes. Junie didn't want to sleep, she wanted to eat. I think every couple of minutes she had to get up for a handful of potato chips.

Liam is finally healthy and I need to start planning more activities to keep him occupied. I need to get creative because Indiana is getting another snow storm. I hate being stuck in the house. If anyone out there has any ideas on keeping a one year old entertained please fill me in.

Thursday

So Liam is starting to feel better. I decided that we need to get groceries before the 'big snow storm' hit. They are predicting 4-6 inches. Bring it on mother nature, we have no where to go. After shopping I fed Liam lunch and put him down for a much needed nap. I was going to work out while he was sleeping but I got side tracked with my very messy closet. It is so jammed packed full of stuff. I really had no idea what I have because it was so hard to see everything. Another thing that was bothering me was the colored hangers. I always try to just have white, but some blue and green snuck in. I also have free standing closets in the basement that needed organized. I just started going crazy. I think I was inspired by the show Hoarders. I never want to end up like those people. I had clothes that I would never fit into again even if I lose another 10 pounds. Babies really to change a body forever (It's totally worth it). I had a major pile going of super cute clothes. Some I had never even worn. I decided to call Sammie to see if she wanted anything. She was very happy to come over. It made me feel cool and also a little lame that my sixteen year old sister liked a lot of my stuff. I think I need to stop shopping Forever 21.

I made dinner for everyone, but Sammie is super picky and didn't like anything. Sixteen year old girls eating habits are so weird and gross. I think all she eats are Slim Jims and Caesar salads. I know I used to only eat popcorn when I was her age.

I am actually typing this on Friday morning and it just started snowing. I think a lot of Hoosiers were disappointed that the snow started so late. Now people are already stuck at work and will be stuck in horrible rush hour traffic. Kevin is now sick. He was up all night vomiting. He better pull it together before Sunday. I am doing everything possible to not get this awful tummy virus.

Liam has finally learned to clap and now does it constantly . I put him in bed with me at 6:30 this morning and when I looked over at him he was clapping. I have been trying to teach him to say GO COLTS but he just puts his arms in the air and speaks his baby gibberish (or it might be German).

Oh man

Liam now has a stomach virus. Last week it was the COLD FROM HELL and now this. I took him to Dr. Yancy today to make sure that he isn't dehydrated and that his chest didn't sound congested. Well all is good. Liam is fighting this virus like Mike Tyson. He seems fine except for the poop and puke. I was awoken last night (or early morning) to a crib full of vomit. It was everywhere. I had to change Liam and the sheets and blankets on his bed. I felt so bad for him. After I gave him a bath this morning I fed him breakfast and headed out the door. He is now sleeping comfortably and I hope he takes a long nap. You would never know by looking at him that he is sick. He is still playing and running around like he feel fine. Kids are funny like that. I just hope all is well by Super Bowl Sunday. I don't want Kevin or I to catch this lovely virus. I have washed my hands so much that the skin is cracked and bleeding. I tried to fix this problem with a special lotion that is super thick. Well now I think I'm having an allergic reaction this this lotion. My hands feel like they are on fire and they are bright red.

I think we need a vacation from winter ASAP.

Sunday, Puking Sunday

Sunday was super busy for us. We had an open house from 3-5 and needed to do some light cleaning before hand. We also had plans to take the dogs to Kevin's parents and then meet Adam and Dale in Broad Ripple. We left the house at 1:15 and finally got to Broad Ripple at exactly 2:15. (After dropping the dogs off) Liam got a short nap during this drive. I guess that is better than nothing. It was nice to see Adam and Dale. I haven't seen Adam since Liam's birth. So almost a year. After having a late lunch we headed over to their new house. Let me just say that this house is amazing. It is a mid-century modern that has been completely gutted and done in a modern style. They did an amazing job that took 10 months. They basically rebuilt the house and just kept the outside shell. Liam had so much fun running around the open space. He loved the sound of his voice and he kept yelling listening for his echo. Cute. He also loved playing with Adam. He just kept running towards him. So cute.

After killing time at Dale and Adam's we decided to head home. First, we had to pick up the dogs. Once the dogs were in the car and we were on the highway home Liam started to cough. Well the coughing lead to puking. I was riding in the back and very car sick. The smell of this puke almost had me lose it. Once we got home I got Liam out of the car and straight into his bedroom. I had him stripped down, wipped off, and in clean pj's super fast. I was hoping that he just had car sickness. He seemed to feel fine. I decided to wait on feeding him just in case. I also ran to CVS to get some Pedilite. Once we gave him the pedilite he seemed to be doing fine. So we thought. Next thing I know he is puking all over my rug. Kevin busted out the carpet cleaner and got to work. I changed Liam again. After about 15 minutes Liam hadn't puked and seemed to be feeling fine. I decided to feed him is nightly bottle. He devoured it. Kevin had to leave for a photo shoot for his band Rooms. I was fine with that since Liam seemed to be feeling better. Once Kevin left the fun started. I picked Liam up to change his diaper and the vomit went flying. My dining room was covered with puke. I cleaned Liam up and myself, then the puke. I gave Liam some water to clean his mouth out and 5 minutes later he was puking that. Great. We just got done with this stupid cold and now he has a stomach bug. After about puking 3 more times it seemed to be out of his system. I decided not to give him anything else to drink. He fell asleep in my lap watching the Grammy's. I put him to bed and said a little prayer that he would sleep through the night. Not so lucky. He was up and down all night. No puke but he just couldn't sleep.

Today he is fine. Like nothing happened.
